About the WabiSabi Nonprofit Network
Our Purpose
• Let people know about the jobs, dollars, and services nonprofits bring to the community
• Provide Moab nonprofits with a greater voice in community
• Strengthen the quality of nonprofit leadership and management.
• Enhance the effectiveness of Moab's nonprofit organizations.
• Promote greater understanding of the role and impact of nonprofit organizations.
• Encourage networking and cooperative efforts among Moab nonprofit organizations.
Focus
The WabiSabi Nonprofit Network (WSNN) works with other community nonprofit organizations to help them develop effective public policy to help promote and meet the needs of the community. WSNN is open to nonprofits, individuals and for profit companies that share our values. WSNN provides a consistent message to the public, through training, lunch meetings, award ceremonies, and press releases. WabiSabi will provide materials and people for WSNN member projects and events. This is the main strength of the WabiSabi Nonprofit Network. For example, WabiSabi worked with the Youth Garden and the Teen Center on fund raising projects. WabiSabi also managed the Local Showcase with the Moab Folk Festival and worked with Living Rivers on a River cleanup project.
Effectively Using Our Time and Resources
This is about all of us, our events, needs, what we have to offer, and comments about community nonprofit issues. Our lunch meetings are held the first Thursday of the month. Let's all agree to keep this community resource business like by being respectful, not expressing opinions about issues of the day, not using this forum for advertising, and basically keeping the chit-chat to a minimum. That way, those who subscribe to this blog will only be getting important emails. We all know how important it is to get only important emails and keep the quantity as low as possible. This blog is moderated so email that does not meet the above criterea will not be published. Topic areas are listed below.
WSNN Events
A lunch meeting will typically be held the first Thursday of the month. Great place to get to know what the other nonprofits in Moab are doing. Let the group know what workshop topics you would like to see WSNN sponsor. Here are some potential topics:

• Financial management
• Grant writing

• Local speaker lunch workshops
• Motivating and recruiting volunteers

Resources I have to offer to other nonprofits
Here is a good place to let people know what you have to offer other nonprofits in Moab. For example, WabiSabi offers clothing for a variety of uses - everything from the Mardi Gras fashion show to vouchers for those in need of basic clothing.
Calendar of Events
Let us all know what events you have scheduled. This will help use all network, build support for what you are doing, and help us all avoid scheduling on top of each other. By the way, here's something to add to your calendar - the WabiSabi Nonprofit network meets the first Thursday of the month.
Web resource for Moab nonprofits
Let people know about the best nonprofit web resources you come across. Include a short description. Also, please include a complete web address with the http://www. at the beginning. If you know how to use html, you can create a link, but that is not necessary. Here are a couple of good web resources for starters: CompassPoint Nonprofit services has a wealth of information for nonprofits including a short email newsletter and documents on every aspect of running a nonprofit. Another great resource is the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits. The Info Central section provides management, fundraising, and legal resources.

WabiSabi is Moab’s community based Nonprofit thrift store. We offer clothing, collectibles, sportswear, furniture, building materials, books, camping gear, office supplies, toys, and much more! Donations are always welcomed during business hours. We are here to support local nonprofit organizations and create a healthy environment for our community and our world. Through your purchases and donations we are REDUCING the amount of materials going to our landfills by REUSING or RECYCLING them instead. Plus WabiSabi distributes the money generated at our stores to local nonprofits so you are also raising money for other local nonprofit organizations!
